“UNMASK @ Your Library” this summer by participating in the Richland Public Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program. Track your reading, win prizes, and attend special events. This year’s finishers of the teen reading challenge will receive coupons and Frosty Key Tags from Wendy’s plus entry into the Grand Prize Race. Grand prizes: 1st: a free Papa John’s pizza and HP Tablet, 2nd: an HP tablet, and 3rd: $50 for Target. Finishers will also be entered for weekly prize drawings to win superhero flash drives provided by the Friends of the Richland Public Library. Event raffle prizes will be provided by Atomic Lanes, Wingstop, Five Guys Burgers, and Papa John’s.

Teen Summer Reading Programs

Programs that require registration are listed at a minimum of 2-3 weeks in advance of the event.
Full events do offer a waiting list. Programs listed below should appeal to most 6-12th graders.

June 13
12:00-3:00 PM

Learn to make your own Fairy Wings and Dragon Wings complete with glowing lights. The El-Wire comes in many shades of blue, green, red, orange, white and more. Colors are first come first pick. El-Wire is powered by 2 AA batteries. El-Wire, cellophane, tights, hangers and other materials are provided. There will be ironing, hot glue guns, needle and thread, ribbons and absolutely NO GLITTER. Feel free to bring scales, ribbon, silk flowers or anything else you think your wings may need. This event is for 6th grade and older. Parents welcome to make wings for younger children.
Registration is required with a limit of 20 participants.
Registrants must be here by 12:10 or tickets will be given to the next person
on the Wait List.

LEGO Library

June 23

Come help us build the Richland Public Library out of Legos.  Build your favorite part of the library.

Folding Board 
6th grade+
Raffle Prize Included

Impress your parents! Be a Sheldon! Spend as little time as possible folding clothes by using a folding board. A simple hinged board dramatically reduces the time that it takes to fold a shirt.
You can make your own out of cardboard. Bazinga.

July 7

This is a Try it Tuesday Program.
 Weaving is such a meditative, relaxing craft-and at the end of it, you have fabric!
You don't need a lot of expensive equipment to take up weaving.
We will learn how to build a simple loom on a piece of cardboard.

Super Hero Capes

July 14

This is a Try it Tuesday Program.
 Everyone needs a Super Hero Cape. This is an easy project with minimal sewing for kids and adults.

Raffle Prize Included

July 28

Learn how to sew LED lights into your favorite t-shirt. Learn what makes a complete electrical circuit, how to hand sew battery holders and LED lights. Paid for by the Friends of the Richland Library. All ages. Registration required, 15 participants only.

 Electric Paint
Raffle Prize Included
 August 4
We will create a greeting card with LED lights. Learn how circuits work with conductive paint,
coin batteries and LED lights. Paid for by the Friends of the Richland Library.
Registration will open July 15th. 30 participants only.
 Urban Sketching
Raffle Prize Included
 August 11
 Urban Sketching with Yichien.
Part of the Community Sketch Day (Saturday, August 15th 10:00 to 12:00) celebration week.
 Community Sketch Day Raffle Prize Included  August 15 10:00AM-12:00PM  Artists and non-artists of all ages are invited to join us sketching our community.
Sketch on your own or come join a group at Howard Amon Park, Allied Arts Gallery in the Park,
the Richland Public Library or McMurray Park.
Bring your sketch to the Richland Public Library to be included in a display in September.
 Duck Boxes
4th Grade+
Raffle Prize Included
 August 18 10:00AM-12:00PM  Dale from the Richland Rod & Gun Club will here talk about Duck Boxes and how they are used. Participants will work in teams to make 15 – 20 Duck Boxes.
Each person will sign the inside of the box and learn how to access the information
on where the box will be placed and who has used it throughout the year.
